Energy Conserving Systems
In the United States, buildings use 40 percent of the nation's energy. St. Joseph's plans to mitigate its energy use by implementing readily-available technology, including:
-
Automatic lighting controls
-
Low energy fluorescent lighting
-
High efficiency windows
-
Electronic-controlled HVAC systems
-
High efficiency motors
Expected to cost approximately $5 million to install, these energy conserving systems are projected to save $275,000 in electricity and $160,000 in natural gas costs each year. What's more, the conservatory measures will reduce CO2 emissions by 1,810 metric tons each year.
